M.Sc. in Microbiology

M.Sc. in Microbiology is a two-year postgraduate program in Microbiology. The curriculum is
designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of
Microbiology as well as recent developments in the field, equipping them with industry-relevant
technological skills. The program aims to impart an in-depth understanding of the biochemistry,
cell biology, molecular biology, and physiology of microbes, along with their experimental
aspects. It also focuses on emerging areas of biosciences, including analytical techniques,
bioinformatics, and biostatistics. The curriculum emphasizes both fundamental and applied
microbiology, preparing students for diverse careers in research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals,
food and dairy industries, environmental monitoring, and academia. In the final semester,
students undertake a research project or dissertation that promotes independent investigation,
experimental design, and scientific communication. Through seminars, presentations, and
practical training, the program fosters critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and
professional competence in modern microbiological sciences.

Eligibility:

  • The candidate must have passed a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology from a recognized university
    with at least 50% marks.
