Sports and Fitness Facilities

In ITM SLS Baroda University, Sports and Fitness is an essential part for promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the students. Here are some common sports and fitness facilities that are available in our campus:

 

Gymnasium: Gymnasium located below the ‘Tagore Block’ Hostel Building is equipped with a variety of fitness equipment such as treadmills, stationary bikes, weight machines, and free weights. The gymnasium is usually accessible to students and often has designated hours for both individual workouts and group classes.

 

Indoor Sports Complex: Indoor Sports Complex has in house facilities for various sports such as table tennis, carom, chess etc.

 

Outdoor Sports Fields: The University provides outdoor sports fields or open spaces for sports like football, cricket, volleyball, basketball and badminton. The facilities are equipped as per national guidelines.

HOSPITAL FACILITIES

Hospital facilities

The state of the art medical facilities are available to cater to the healthcare needs of students, faculty, and staff. Hospital facilities are :

 

Student Health Center: A dedicated Student Health Center where students can receive basic medical care, consultations, and treatment for common illnesses or injuries. These centers are staffed by healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and counselors.

 

Emergency Care: The University has within the hospital to handle serious or life-threatening medical situations. These facilities are equipped to provide emergency medical care, including trauma care, surgical procedures, and intensive care units

 

Pharmacy: The University has on-campus pharmacy, making it convenient for students to fill prescriptions and access over-the-counter medications.

 

Laboratory Services: University has on-site laboratories available in the Hospital for diagnostic testing, such as blood tests, urine analysis, and imaging services like X-rays or ultrasounds. These facilities help support medical diagnoses and treatment plans.

 

Health Education and Wellness Programs: University typically promotes health education and wellness initiatives to encourage healthy lifestyles among Itmbu members.

ATM FACILITIES

ATM Facilities

Our University provide ATM (Automated Teller Machine) facilities for the convenience of students, faculty, and staff. These ATMs allow individuals to withdraw cash, check their account balances, and perform other basic banking transactions. University has partnerships with two banks to install ATMs in campus, Kotak Mahindra and ICICI banks.

HOSTEL FACILITIES

Hostel facilities

Hostel facilities are an integral part of the University providing accommodation for students to live in our campus. These facilities offer a convenient and supportive living environment for students, fostering a sense of community and providing access to essential amenities:
  1. Accommodation Options: Hostels offers different types of accommodation options, including shared rooms, single rooms and deluxe room. The room configurations vary based on the specific hostel and its capacity.
    • Tilak Block (Girls Hostel) – girls
    • Tagore Block (Boys Hostel)- boys
    • Lohiya Block (Boys Hostel) – boys
  2. Amenities: Hostels provide basic amenities to ensure a comfortable living experience. These amenities include beds, study desks, chairs, wardrobes or closets, lighting fixtures, and electrical outlets in each room , ac rooms with attached toilets , non ac rooms Common areas such as lounges, study rooms, and recreational spaces are also available for students to socialize and relax.
  3. Bathrooms: Hostels have shared and individual bathroom facilities, usually located on each floor or within close proximity to the rooms.
  4. Dining Facilities: hostel provides full time meals for students. Under these facilities University offers a variety of food options, including meal plans, and Ala carte dining available in common canteens.

Central Library – ITM SLS Baroda University

About the Central Library

The Central Library of ITM SLS Baroda University, established in March 2023, serves as a comprehensive knowledge hub for students, faculty members, and researchers. The library supports teaching, learning, and research by providing access to a wide range of print and digital academic resources.

The library houses an extensive and diverse collection including books, periodicals, e-books, e-journals, databases, Ph.D. theses, audiovisual materials, and project reports.

Architecturally, the library building is designed in the shape of an open book, symbolizing knowledge and learning. It is located on the third floor of the SAAD Building, featuring a spacious stack area and a well-equipped reading centre.

The Central Library is fully automated and manages user services, circulation, acquisitions, serial control, and transactions through an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS).

Digital Library Access

The University’s digital library resources are available 24×7 throughout the year. Users can access resources through the Library Web OPAC, both on-campuses via intranet and remotely via the internet using a dynamic IP address.

Library as a Learning Resource

Library Automation using Integrated Library Management System (ILMS)

The Central Library is fully automated using an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS). Library operations such as acquisition, cataloguing, circulation (issue and return), serial control, OPAC access, and report generation are efficiently managed through KOHA and GN Library software.

The Web OPAC enables users to search the library collection by author, title, subject, and keywords, ensuring easy and quick access to resources. QR code–based OPAC access further enhances user convenience.

The Central Library maintains a rich and diverse collection of print, digital, and non-book materials aligned with the curriculum and research needs of various schools and departments.

The collection is regularly updated through faculty recommendations, budgetary allocations, and academic requirements, ensuring relevance and adequacy.

SERVICES

Services Supporting Teaching–Learning and Research

The Central Library maintains a rich and diverse collection of print, digital, and non-book materials aligned with the curriculum and research needs of various schools and departments.

1. Circulation Service (Issue & Return)

The library provides circulation services to all registered users through automated library management systems (GN Library and KOHA). Issue and return of library materials are carried out as per prescribed library rules. The circulation process is fully computerized to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

2. Reference Service

The library offers reference services through a comprehensive collection of dictionaries, CDs, exam-oriented books, personality development books, and other reference materials to support teaching, learning, and research activities.

3. Open Access System

Users are free to browse and read library resources within the premises.

4. Periodical Service

The library subscribes to print journals and magazines relevant to academic programmes. These periodicals are made available for reference within the library.

5. Library OPAC

The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) enables users to search library holdings by author, title, subject, and keywords. Necessary guidance is provided by library staff when required.

6. Current Awareness Service (CAS)

To keep users informed about new additions, newly acquired books are displayed prominently for a period of one month before being issued for circulation.

7. User Orientation Programme

The library conducts user orientation programmes at the beginning of each academic year to acquaint students and faculty with library resources, services, rules, and usage of digital tools.

8. Reprographic / Photocopy Facility

Reprographic facilities are provided to users for academic and research purposes in accordance with library norms and copyright guidelines.

9. Book Bank Facility

The library provides a Book Bank facility for Pharmacy students as per academic requirements. The facility is proposed to be extended to other departments in a phased manner..

10. Reading Room Facility

The library has two well-furnished reading rooms with a total seating capacity of more than 150 users. Separate reading areas are provided for UG and PG students to ensure a conducive learning environment.

11. Internet Service

Internet facilities are available through dedicated computer systems in the library. More than 25 computers with free internet access and campus Wi-Fi connectivity are provided to support academic and research activities.

12. Previous Year Question Papers

The library maintains a systematic collection of previous year question papers for reference. Photocopying of required documents is permitted as per library policy.

13. Reading Corner for Research Scholars

A separate and dedicated reading corner is provided for research scholars to facilitate uninterrupted reading and research work.

14. Wi-Fi and CCTV Facility

The library is fully Wi-Fi enabled and equipped with CCTV surveillance to ensure safety, security, and discipline within the library premises.

15. Thematic Display

The library regularly organizes thematic displays on academic subjects, national and international days, and current educational themes to promote awareness and academic interest among users.

16. Thesis / Dissertation / Project Section

A separate section is maintained for theses, dissertations, and project reports submitted by students, which are made available for reference in accordance with institutional guidelines.

17. Mail Alert Service

The library provides automated email alerts to users regarding book issue and return dates. Important library notifications, including new arrivals and service updates, are also communicated through email.

18. QR Code Service for OPAC Access

QR codes are displayed at strategic locations in the library to facilitate quick and convenient access to the Library OPAC through mobile devices.

    • Book Exhibition 2022
    • The Book Exhibition was held on 14 December 2022 near the SAAD Building, ITMBU Campus. The event aimed to encourage reading habits among students and staff and promote effective use of library resources.
    • Book Fair 2025
    • The Book Fair 2025 was organized from 9 January to 11 January 2025 near the Central Library, ITMBU Campus, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.                        Highlights:
      • University members personally recommended books to visitors
      • Deans and faculty members motivated students to explore the fair
      • A special guest shared his passion for literature with attendees
    • 2nd Book Fair 2026
    • The 2nd Book Fair 2026 was organized on 10 February 2026 near the Central Library at ITM (SLS) Baroda University Campus, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
    • As per the recommended book fair initiative, the Library organized this one-day event to continue promoting reading culture and academic enrichment.
    • Highlights:
      • Organized based on faculty and departmental recommendations
      • Deans and faculty members motivated students to visit the fair
      • A special guest addressed attendees and shared insights on the importance of reading
      • Strong participation from students across various schools
    • The event strengthened the reading culture and encouraged students to select quality academic resources.
    • Webinar 2026
    • In 2026, the Central Library organized a webinar on “DELNET: Resources and Services.”
    • The objective of the webinar was to:
      • Create awareness about DELNET digital resources
      • Guide faculty and students on accessing e-journals, e-books, and research databases
      • Promote effective utilization of library e-resources
    • The webinar witnessed active participation from faculty members, researchers, and Students, contributing to enhanced awareness and academic research support.
