Course Title : Operation Theatre Techniques

Course Objectives:

• To provide foundational knowledge of the OT environment, zones, and staff roles.
• To train students in aseptic techniques, infection prevention, and surgical safety.
• To build skills for assisting in pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient care.
• To familiarize learners with surgical procedures according to body systems.
• To understand the role of the nurse anaesthetist and basics of anaesthesia care.
• To enhance competency in responding to OT emergencies and documentation.

Course Outcomes:

On successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
1. Understand the structure and workflow of the operation theatre.
2. Demonstrate aseptic practices and infection control procedures.
3. Identify, manage, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
4. Assist efficiently in all phases of surgery (pre-op, intra-op, post-op).
5. Recognize different types of surgeries based on body systems.
6. Support anaesthesia care under supervision and respond to emergencies.
7. Apply professional, safety, and ethical standards within the OT environment.
