Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is under graduate program that deals with structure of the human body. BPT course duration is 5 years. Students are required to complete a 1 year Internship, Compulsory after the 4 years of studies.

CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) program follows a competency-based curriculum designed to develop skilled physiotherapy professionals capable of promoting health, preventing disability, and providing rehabilitation. The program integrates basic medical sciences, physiotherapy sciences, and clinical training to ensure strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical skills.

Students gain practical experience through hospital postings, community exposure, and supervised clinical practice. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, ethical healthcare, communication skills, and multidisciplinary teamwork, preparing graduates to work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, sports settings, and community healthcare services.

Year-wise Curriculum Structure

First Year

Focus on basic medical sciences and foundation subjects, including Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Basic Biomechanics, Psychology, Sociology, and Introduction to Physiotherapy. Students are also introduced to basic clinical skills and healthcare ethics.

Second Year

Students learn core physiotherapy sciences such as Exercise Therapy, Electrotherapy, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Clinical Biomechanics. Practical sessions begin to develop essential therapeutic skills.

Third Year

Emphasis on clinical physiotherapy subjects, including Orthopaedics, General Medicine, General Surgery, and Physical and functional diagnosis in.

Musculoskeletal, Neurological and Cardiorespiratory Conditions. Students start regular clinical postings in hospitals.

Fourth Year

Advanced subjects such as Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy, Community Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, and Evidence-Based Physiotherapy Practice are taught. Students gain extensive clinical exposure and research orientation.

Internship (1year)

A compulsory rotatory internship in various departments such as Orthopaedics, Neurology, Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy, Community Rehabilitation, and Sports Physiotherapy allows students to apply their knowledge in real clinical settings.
